Two destitute men, one elderly and the other young, find themselves in dire straits and are offered payment to undertake a grim responsibility. Their task is to steal and transport two lifeless bodies to a village in the West, where they are to be handed over to their rightful owners. With determination, they successfully complete the first part of their mission.

Afterward, they conceal the corpses inside cases meant for musical instruments and continue their journey toward the West, posing as itinerant musicians. However, their journey takes an unexpected turn when the elder man makes a heart-wrenching discovery: one of the lifeless bodies is that of his missing child.
