Ali is a young man from a small town who has come to the capital and lives with his wife, Karim. In the letters he writes to his mother, he pretends to have a happy life with his wife Parvin. His mother, in a letter, reveals that she is ill and wishes to see her son one last time before the end of her life. To keep his secret from being exposed, Ali promises to marry a famous woman named Ashraf and asks her to play the role of his wife and accompany him to his hometown. Ashraf, who dreams of a happy life, joins them along with Karim. On the way, they encounter a familiar woman, and a man named Youssef is also chasing Ashraf. Upon reaching their destination, Youssef confronts Ali with a knife, but Ashraf intervenes and saves him. Afterward, Ali confesses that “there is no news in the city” and, together with Karim, starts working on farming the land.
