The only Man in the Neighborhood | تنها مرد محله

PersianAction 113 min 1972

A group of ignorants, led by Mostafa Gavi (Mohammad Ali Zarandi), go to a coffeehouse and gouge out the eyes from the photo of Akbarkhan (Yadollah Shirandami), a local hero, which is hung on the coffeehouse wall. They tell the coffeehouse owner that if Akbarkhan wants his eyes back, he must come to Tehran. Akbar goes to Tehran and meets Ali (Morteza Aghili), who claims he can teach him the ways of being a “Luti” (traditional Iranian strongman). Ali, intending to swindle Akbar, eventually decides to be honest with him. Ali’s sister (Pouri Banayi) shows interest in Akbar, but Ali introduces him to a dancer named Shahin (Farangis Forouhar). Initially, Akbar confronts a few of Mostafa Gavi’s men and after a fight with them, he faces Mostafa Gavi himself and defeats him. Following this, Akbar returns to his hometown with Ali’s sister.
