Mehdi Missaghieh (1927—1991) was a movie producer and studio owner. Missaghieh began his career as an actor and eventually joined other filmmakers in establishing the Kārūn Film Studio in 1952. Later on, he founded Studio Missaghieh in 1959, where he produced some of the most iconic movies of pre-revolutionary Iran. His ground-breaking advancements in scene design, new techniques in filmmaking, and a revolutionary use of music and sound were incredibly innovative. These developments notably enhanced the quality of fictional film production, enabling them to compete foreign films at the box office. At thirty, he independently produced the movie Shab-nishīnī dar jahannam (A Party in Hell, 1956), which was a huge success at the box office in 1957 and was nominated at Berlin International Film Festival. Missaghieh passed away in exile, yet several screenplays originally planned for production by his studio were later approved and screened by the Islamic Republic.
