Heshmat, who works as a porter in Shiraz, gradually accumulates capital. He first becomes the owner of a shop and then a store, and finally a candy store. World War I breaks out, Heshmat monopolizes his sugar bags and after a while sells them to Qeshun at several times the price and comes to Tehran with the money he receives from this way and decides to live like the rich. But because he does not have the right origin and is also useless from the special culture of the rich, he cannot play. Heshmat tries to fulfill this wish using the wealth he has accumulated, but when he finds out that he will soon get everything he wants, he cannot bear so much happiness and dies of a stroke.
